While visiting the EU on behalf of the FI-MEDIA project, through a travel grant offered by Waterford Institute of Technology via the Science Foundation Ireland International Strategic Cooperatation Award (SFI ISCA
), Mr. Abhishek Sharma of BETS, India was able to travel to Ireland to participate as a keynote speaker in the "Internet of Things (IoT) 2015 Summit
" held at Carton House, County Kildare, Ireland, on 17th June 2015.
As part of the same visit to Ireland, Mr Sharma carried out a visit to Waterford Institute of Technology
and was brought on a dedicated tour in a nearby village to a "Smart Farm" to study the prospects of positioning IoT/ICT for Agriculture as a potential cluster topic with India. During the productive visit, there was a special focus on common areas of interests between the Indian and European research and innovation (R&I) activies specifically in the domain of Smart Agriculture related activities. The site visit was undertaken with a view to identify the scope of a C2C partnership and identify the R&I landscape for partnership initiation as well as their longer term sustainability.
