C2C events held during August and beginning of September, 2018.
A number of EU-India FI-MEDIA clustering events were held in New Delhi at the end of August and beginning of September, 2018, including a “Curtain Raiser” event for the upcoming M2M + IoT Forum 2019 event, which will be held during 15-16th January, 2019.
As part of the main panel at the Curtain Raiser, Mr. James Clarke, coordinator of FI-MEDIA, presented the objectives of the FI-MEDIA project, which is an international EU – India cooperation mobility project funded by the Delegation of the European Union to India, whose main objective is the formation of mutually beneficial EU-India cluster to cluster (C2C) partnerships in a variety of topics related to the Future Internet, or now often referred to in the EU as the more human – centric Next Generation Internet, which includes topics such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial intelligence (AI), Smart environments, etc. The FI-MEDIA project has supported the highly successful 2018 edition of m2m + IoT Forum 2018 with FI-MEDIA responsible for the recruitment of EU participants for both days and organisation of a full day clustering event specifically dedicated to clustering related to Smart Villages, which was held on 31st January, 2018. A full report of the event can be found in the FI-MEDIA project’s yearbook of success that can be downloaded from here.
The m2m + IoT Forum 2018 curtain raiser was attended by representatives of m2m + IoT stakeholders from the entire ecosystem comprising of academics, analysts and researchers, enterprises and industry, governments – policy makers and regulators, industry associations and organizations, and government representatives from cities and villages. All attendees were showing tremendous support to the 2019 edition of the m2m + IoT Forum, which will again be split into two streams, including Smart Cities forum and Smart Villages forum.
In addition, along with the Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research (C-DEP), the FI-MEDIA project partners co-organised a clustering roundtable on Artificial Intelligence for Public Policy, which was hosted by the FI-MEDIA partner, Department of Management Studies, at IIT Delhi. The well attended event event was very successful in identifying areas related to the research and innovation challenges in respect to AI that should be proactively promoted by and for Public Policy, which included a number of important themes relative to the EU objectives of making citizens data and information online more secure and private, whilst also using digital technologies including AI to improve the quality of life. A number of specific sectors were represented including the financial and ehealth sector, and others, and their views were expressed on the way forward for challenges to address with research and innovation necessary to bring ethical AI to the marketplace. This roundtable activity will be followed in November, 2018, with another clustering event with EU participants working alongside their Indian counterparts for mutual benefit on this particular hot topic within the Next Generation Internet portfolio.
